May 31 Dear darling funny, nice old thing I went to the post office this afternoon so sure that I was going to have a letter that you wrote Fri. or Sat. and forgot to post, but as usual our box was empty. Never mind though I am the one in a thousand who understands why you don’t write. I’ve been in the attic nearly all day, tidying up and carting old rubish out to burn. Dad has also working at the side of the attic devoted to his various belongings. Has’nt this been a lovely day. I felt so full of pep and enjoyed my work no end. I was very sleepy this a.m. but had to be up early. There is a chance that Gwen and I may go to Hfx. tomorrow in a car with Uncle Monte. I have heaps of things to tell you that I can’t write concerning our visitors. F. is a queer sort in this way, he seems quite satisfied not to be doing a thing but loafing, and is way in debt. Just think tomorrow is the 1st day of June. If I go to Halifax what shall I bring you. Something nice from the 5 and 10? Bytheway did you want to order the Fuller spray brush for the bath? I think you mentioned it. It is awfully expensive but very nice. I must not write any more now as I have to go out on an errand. Night. Night dear heart Your ownest Ruth
